umbraco-logo.pngAll our sites come with Umbraco free of charge because we strongly believe that you should remain in total control of your website, content and data. Umbraco provides you with the tools to update and manage your site allowing it to grow along with you and your business.

You can also be confident that you're dealing with a professionaly certified Umbraco developer who has completed the official Umbraco training course. This is something you rarely find from agencies offering PHP based Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla systems.

Unlike Wordpress, Umbraco was created from the ground up as a Content Management System (CMS) and built to allow easy integration with existing legacy and back office systems. Wordpress however, is a blogging platform which over the years has been hacked into something of a monster trying to appeal to everyone. With the endless number of 3rd party plugins, Wordpress can quite quickly become unfriendly to use, administer and maintain. On the other hand our customers just love how intuitive Umbarco is to work with and even with its powerful list of features how simple it is to use. We are confident you will love it too and with built in multi-language, editing workflows and membership management capabilities who wouldn't.

So what is Umbraco and why should you use it?

Umbraco is a fully-featured open source website content management system with the flexibility to run anything from small campaign or brochure sites right through to complex applications for Fortune 500's and some of the largest media sites in the world.

Umbraco is very easy to learn and use. It's also perfect for us because it provides a fantastic framework to build websites that will integrate with your existing systems and data. It enables us to create websites that become a part of your day to day business process and systems workflow.

Things to consider, be careful and aware of . . .

  • Your website is your shop window onto the world. Are you proud of it and the image it portrays?

  • If like us you believe your website should be more than just an online brochure then you must chose a developer with the skills and experience to deliver your vision. Almost anyone can build a 'website' today and have it online in a few hours just like designing and printing business cards at a petrol station. Only you can decide if that approach will present the right image, help you interact with your customers and manage your business and customer relationships effectively.

  • There are some very talented web designers around creating fantastic looking sites, we work with some great ones ourselves. You should also be aware that most web designers are just designers they are not programmers and they don't necessarily have the skills to build sites that integrate with databases or your existing office systems. If you're looking for something more than just a brochure website you need to be confident your designer has the broader programming, database and IT skills to deliver a complete solution. You may have a shiny new website but when you want it to list the products and images from your Access database or Excel spreadsheet your designer may stop returning your calls.

  • Always retain control of your domain name. Make sure you have control panel access to your website, domain and databases along with any supporting documentation, usernames and passwords. All too often we hear from customers who've quickly outgrown their 'hobbyist' websites, built in good faith by a nephew or 'John down the road'. They quickly find that these sites are working against, rather than for them and they have no idea where the site is hosted, who has the email passwords or who can gain access to the domain records. This sometimes results in loss of the domain, access to email systems and them having to start all over again.
